PDAY NAVIDA

Well Hello, Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful wonderful Christmas filled with lots of fun and family, and oh duhhh THE SPIRIT!!! Here are a few videos from the Christmas program enjoy!

Carold de las campanas (CAROL OF THE BELLS)

SILENT NIGHT

Christmas Eve morning was rough! I had to get up at 3am so we could be at the offices by 6am!  I was exhausted by evening! The collectivo was packed full of people, and everyone knows that I am not a morning person! There is about a ten minute walk from the bus station to the offices and as we were walking, I noticed there were a ton of like teens just roaming the streets, dressed really nice.  I was like. wow it is super early for these kids to be out and about, little did I realized there was a huge party in Ramos the night before and for a breif moment I was super bummed it reminded me of the good ol days hanign out with friemds! We made it on time to go to the Buenos Aires Temple, it was soo cool! I had a super spiritual experience there, and it was just an amazing morning, thankful for the BAW Mission Temple President and his famliy for sharing that day with us and making it possible!

After the Temple we headed back to the offices for a wonderful little Christmas party! Elder Gomez and I were the only ones from our Zone there, so we were kind of solo, but hello, I'm Wade Draper I am never solo! I got to catch up with my papi Elder Delgado! We talked for a bit and also I sat with Elder Crowther while we ate,  super fun! We had our Christmas program which was amazing and President gave a really good message!

Christmas Eve was great we ate dinner at Rominas and I cooked about 150 milanesas because there were 15 of us, so that was super fun!

Also that night we slept on the roof to watch the fireworks! At midnight they all went off and it was a Kodak moment and of course the Altos Elders got a little rendition sung by me of "Firework" by Katy Perry super funny!

Christmas day we awoke and I opened all my goodies! Def my fav present was the Tony Bennett duets album! LOVE IT!

We made a really yummy christmas breakfast thanks to my mother for the ham and pancake mix and then a little budin!

We had a yummy lunch with Romina and the fam at 1pm, and then a little later got to spend the afternoon talking with my family! LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Galatians 3:27
I had another baptism this past Saturday. Our investigator Fabiana got baptized and I did the baptism because she said I look like Joseph Smith when he is old from The Restoration movie... and for that reason wanted me to baptize her! HAHAHA

The baptism went really well! We had kind of like a joined baptism with the Elders from Merlo and Altos 1 because Merlo capilla had no water, and Altos 1 and 2, we share a chapel!

After the baptism we had a Ward activity for the end of the year, we played a little bit of futbol and volleyball and you know I destroyed them in volleyball, haha I hit the gospel principles teacher in the face off of a serve... my bad.

I am hoping everyone had good Holidays!  This week we have transfers! Have no idea what is going to happen but I am pretty sure that I am out this transfer but we will see! I will miss this place gotta admitt it!

Well kids, I hope ya´ll have a good week and I will let ya know where I am next week!

Love ya´ll.
Over and Out!

Love,
Elder Wade S. Draper

IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE OFF THE SKYPE HE AROSE...12/25/2012

Dearest Family and Friends,

Alas I have returned to this keybouard after hours and days of pondering that much cherrished "SKPYE" Christmas from Elder Draper.  He is looking fine, and I do mean "FINE", and I am more then positive that someday. when he returns, that Spanish accent with a twist of Italian "Ja" will sweep some beautiful young virtuous young lady off her feet, but HOLD ON THERE WAIT....all good things in due time RIGHT!

Once again I was reminded of his previous email home when he assured us that he truly felt different about this Christmas and that presents really didn't mean much this year, but the PRESENCE of his family, there on skype Christmas Day, that's the PRESENCE he cherrished most.

He is truly an amazing valiant young Missionary, like so many serving with him and throughout the world, and our family will be forever eternally blessed.  The acts and testimony of these fine young Elders and Sisters are a beacon of light to all that encounter their presence and Heavenly Father looks down upon each and everyone one of them as the stars appear in the Heavens at night and whispers, "Well done Elder/Sister, Well done".

The Drapers Wish You the Happiest of New Years!!

"TWAS THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS"...12/17/2012

SPECIALIZED TRAINNING IN MERLO WITH CASTLAER

Well hello my wonderful Family and Friends!
Is everyone having a wonderful week? I really do hope so! My week was so-so, had its ups and downs, I didn´t really feel good this week, and we worked really extremely hard so I am just super exhausted!

Our week was super hard! All of our progressing investigators just kind of bailed on us!!! Boooo!!! To begin with Margarita´s son, who had a baptismal date, like ran away from home so she was worrying about that and the fact he doesn’t want anything to do with the Church. So Margarita keeps telling us she is coming to Church and wants to be baptized but did not come yesterday, probably with the stress of her son and so her baptism fell through. Then little Nicole has been acting kinda weird lately. She acts as though she doesn´t want to meet with us or anything, and she too didn’t come to church yesterday, so guess what her baptismal date fell as well. Just a disappointing week for me!
However there is Fabiana, a lady who came to church last Sunday and returned again yesterday! I had probably about the scariest experience of my life though. During the Gospel Principles class, she had an epileptic, (I think that’s how it is spelled) seizure, I was stunned, like froze, didn’t know what to do! I had no idea what to do felt just useless, awful, and yes very scared! We rushed to get her water and upon returning she was already coming out of it a petite mall seizure I am now told and she is ok. Oh Dear Liza!

Our darling Faustina is buying Elder Gomez and I shoes for Christmas! She is the most amazing lady! It was super hot the other day and we were on our way to visit her. We are always so thankful as she has always been there and never once stood us up! She hasn’t even canceled a lesson, no not once but today as we were walking to her house she was walking out of her gate, and we were like SHOOT, she is leaving! Turns out she was just going around the corner to buy us helado (ice cream) for our lesson with her! She is really just darling and I am going to be really sad when I leave this area I will miss her sweet little lady kinda Grandma spirit!

It is so crazy this transfer ends in 2 weeks! I am pretty sure that I am out of here, along with Elder Wilson but only time will tell right? I will equally miss that Zone Leader he just RAISES THE BAR in every kind of way and just rocks on all levels!!

NOVEMBER 2012 IN THE BAW MISSION

About those Ramin noodles I think I will pass I am very content with the noodles here! HAHA But the other stuff is always appreciated especially the Christmas Breakfast box, pancakes, syrup and canned ham really I thought only the Krank’s knew where to find one so yes I will slice it and fry it up for the tummies here Christmas morning!

I also got a nice letter from Grandma Margo, it was thoughtful, did Grams ever get my last letter?  The mail here is about as slow as snails among other issuses so one never knows about it! How is Maddy and Kenzi and how is Brayden doing, got his email?

"TWAS THE WEEK BEFORE CHIRSTMAS AND ALL THROUGH THE PENSION"

Well I am hoping that everyone has an extraordinary Christmas, unfortunately I will not be writing a letter next week but better yet skypeing my family on Christmas at 7pm here 3:00 pm Utah time, can’t wait! Mom I wrote down the skype information so don’t fret about it anymore and those packages well, yes they all arrived, you are all the BEST, ask anyone in my apartment, Elder Wilson wants to send his address for next Christmas even though he will be home! HAHA Again thanks Dad, Grams, Kids and Misty for bringing Utah to Argentina this Christmas. HAHA I love ya´ll and hope you get everything you want for Christmas! The Elf in the office was pretty nice today he must of just been having a bad day last time I was in there.

Lyndsey looks incredible and WOW it’s NUTS she will going to her first Stake Dance, going on Youth Trek and EFY this year, shut up she is growing up to fast while I am away.  Her piano music is amazing, keep up the good work there SIS your making me proud!

It sounds like one of my converts is struggeling a bit in Alabama and I am very sad about how her Christmas is going so Mom sprinkle a little magic on a Christmas card and send it off to her I am sure you will know just what to say you always do!  I am sending you her address let her know I am thinking of her at this time!  Thanks!

May the sweet spirit of Christmas visit each of your homes and may those homes be filled with love and laughter through out the holidays!  Merry Christmas extended Family and Friends.  I love ya´ll so much and Mom , you know the drill, gotta run, til next Tuesday, hugs and kisses!!!

Love and Miss You!

Love,
Elder Wade Draper

CHRISTMAS ARGENTINA STYLE...12/10/2012

"Pólvora" at Midnight
Buenos Aires

"La Parrillada"
Grilled Meat

"Pan Dulce"
Sweet Bread With Crystalized Fruit and Nuts

"Quemando Globos."
Paper decorations you light inside and they take off into the sky. Argentinians do it at night, and you can see the skies lit with them.

Hello Family, Stars and Studs,

How's it hang'n?  We had a decent week, another pretty busy one for Elder Draper though!  A couple of ou fecha's fell through for the 29th so we have been working on getting them back on track while continuing with our track, trekking!  HAHA  But do you do right?

Our little Nicole is progressing nicely towards her baptism date!  She is pretty funny, I told her if she would read I would bring her some American candy so she is reading like crazy.  I took her a fruit roll-up and a peppermint ball and she loved the roll up but said the peppermint gave her a stomache sick, OH NO!!

I got some very exciting news this morning!  On Christmas Eve we get to go into Buenos Aires and do a session at the Temple.  I am so excited!!!!  The Temple is usually closed on Monday's here however the Temple Mission President and his wife are taking time out of there Eve so that everyone in the Mission can have a Temple session.

The wonderful holiday of Christmas is setteling into Argentina, unfortunately in my area there are alot of GRINCHES!! They think that Christmas is about the stores making money off people spending money and since many a folk here don't have alot they fell it is a little unfair. Unfair that they don't get or recieve presents that is. I have tried to explain to some of those folks that it isn't about presents but PRESENCE... of family and friends celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. I really got it this Christmas, I must admitt, I am a little homesick these past few days! I am just praying I don't have to go "Cindy Lou Hoo" on a few of them that just refuse to be Christmasy! What did you get the kids for Xmas?

Ummm.. I don't know if I can get a video of the program for you Romina will not be there as it is only for the Missionaries but I will see what we can do ok! I will be skyping about 2:00 there, I have heard the internet gets jammed and I don't want Mom having a coronary on Christmas no doubt, so Dad I need the skype uer name and password we used at Mothers's Day.

Haven't been in to the office in a couple weeks so nope no more packages yet, but don't worry I am sure they will arrive in time.  Belynn needs your help Mom sending a package the last one she sent didn't make it here will you help her please and thanks! I did however recieve an envelope like thing full of letters from Bishop Carter filled with letters from the Highland 38th  Ward Youth.  Brock Lamb's letter was especailly nice and so I wrote him back let him know it is on it's way!  Sent Grams a letter too!

No I have not sent the camera card yet waiting till holidays have passed don't want it lost in the mail for any reason although here they don't have to have any reason to loose things! HAHA

Another blessing gas restored to our apartment, yed I forgot to mention it (maybe in tentionaly) but we bow have gas after 2 weeks of no cooking and hot water, so thankful!

I am really starting to immerse myself in the cooking culture of the Argentines.  I have had a few lessons in member's homes here and I finally made the Tortilla de papas I mentioned last week perfectly!  Turned out to be a dang good tuco!

One culture I still am finging different is the infamous breast feeding mothers, I mean EVERY mother here with a baby breast feeds.  On the bus, in the streets, while we're teaching etc. and if that's not an awkward feeling when they just blop out the boob like non other and just continue. whata do?

Well I hear it is snowing in Utah, I will miss this white Christmas things are really heating up here, getting hot!

Well I hope everyone has another wonderful week ahead of them!  LOVE YOU SO MUCH MOM, but times up and I still have to write the Mission President.  Have a great week I am just hanging out here no special plans today. Same time next week kids!

Love,
Elder Draper

SHE WENT IN FOR THE...12/3/2012

TORTILLA de PAPAS

Spicy Spanish tortilla with potatoes, onions, and jalapenos.

Ingredients

Greetings Family and Children,

First of all this freaking keyboard is driving me nuts, there is no space bar, can you imagine that so Mom this will be one long Guinness word and you will have to decode it for the blog!!  Before I forget Mom text Addie Bentley and Hayley Huntsman to see if they got my letters Addie says her replies keep getting returned make sure has the right address, thanks!

Well I am absolutely exhausted about now!!! This past week I worked my rear off! I don’t think I have ever been this tired during my entire mission.  The weather here is really heating up but I guess that means I am going to get a heck of a tan!

We found alot of new people to teach and we have some baptismal dates for the end of the month! I’m really hoping to see some Mission Miracles this Christmas season!
The members have been really wonderful to us as well! They help us out alot with many things!! Romina especially, even though she isn’t technically a member yet!  We went to her house last Thursday and she and her crazy Tia (aunt in Spanish) Blanca taught me how to make empanadas! So that will be my treat to bring to the parties when I get back friends!  This week I am going to learn how to make a tortilla de papas (potatoes)!

Gotta pause here…”Tainted Love” just came on in the cyber café, always good to have a little good American jam overhead right?

Some night say I broke a Mission rule this week! Ahhh, well not really because it wasn’t my fault. We were walking down our Main street doing contacts and this beautiful tall blonde immodestly dressed girl down the street was handing out cards to a club. We hand out cards as well as we trekk about the church website, sin and repentance, and The Plan of Salvation and cards so I thought it would be funny and interesting to ask her if we could trade cards to see what she might say.  She said sure and asked where the Church was and then asked my name, so I told her and she gave me hers and I went in for the handshake and to my total surprise she went if for the Argentine greeting KISS ON THE CHEEK.  I do have to admit, I loved it! HAHA But I thought would be a funny little story to pass on this week.
As for package Mom, nope I didn’t get any this week and I was in the office so made sometime before Christmas, I hope they will show up. We all appreciate everything you have done, THANKS SO MUCH it made our holidays seem a lot closer to home!

Well I am looking forward to another wonderful week here in my little Altos de Merlo.  Hermana Cahoon slipped the secret to Hermana Carter that I sing pretty good so guess what… I am singing in a little choir for our Mission Christmas party.  I will be singing “Where Are You Christmas” to end the program, I know you think I am kidding but I’m really not.  HAHA  Most, if not all of the other songs in the program, are more traditional Church songs but I will close with that song so I will do Faith Hill proud! HAHA Yep singing is so my high school mother, glad your excited for me!
No super plans for today but I gotta run but I love you Mom.  Well l hope everyone has an absolutely wonderful week this week.  I miss ya’ll so much and hope everyone is doing well!  Love ya Grams,  Dad and kids, friends keep it real this week!! BYE!

Love,
Elder Draper

"IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK ALOT LIKE CHRISTMAS"...11/26/2012

ELDER DRAPER'S THANKSGIVING DINNER 11/22/2012

Hello Family, Funny Friends and Kind Kinsfolk,

I hope everyone had an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving and Blcak Friday! HAHA  The holiday season is really in full swing now right!

We had our Stake Baptisms on Saturday!! YAAA BeforeI get to that though I will give you a little update of how my week went.  This past week was super stressful for me.  We had to get everything ready for our baptisms, meet our "key indicators", which I am starting to think has been Mission programmed into my mind, so I stress about meeting them every week.. but I am trying to really focus on just helping others as much as I can no matter what the "indicator number is", I think it all works out.  Anyways we met with all our investigators every day just to make sure that everything would go according to plan and in the midddle of all this came transfer meetings!

FLYING UNDER THE RADAR
NOVEMBER TRANSFERS 2012

Tuesday night I was hoping and praying that I would not leave my area because I really wanted to be here for my Baptisms and for Christmas!  Thanks to the good Lord I stayed!  So Iam really looking forward to continuing to serve here in Altos de Merlo II.  Also, I don't remember if I mentioned this in my last email, but there was a situation with Tania, my recent convert at Church.  Apparently something went down and she got offended so we went to vist her last week when I was on exchange with Elder Moore.  She told us that she really didn't want to come back to church anymore and that what happened made her really uncomfortable and a little bit frustrated.  Elder Moore told her to pray about it and if she really felt like God told her not to come back then she she didn't have to. so she said she would.  I prayed as well for her answer and 2 days later  I called her about a youth activity we were going to have.  I asked her if her prayer was answered and she said yes it was good and she knew she needed to be back n church.  It was a really cool prayer experience!

We are also teaching a little elderly lady named Marcia, she is very funny!!  She is like 70 something and she is from Paraguay.  Her laugh is absolutley hilarious!  She reminds me of alike a little old witch, not an ugly, mean, or scary one but just like a cakely cooky lady!  She always calls us papi or mi amor (my love).  I really hope she progresses well I just love her laughter and teaching her!

ALTOS de MERLO II STAKE BAPTISM 11/24/2012

Then the BIG day arrived, Saturday, the STAKE BAPTISM!!  All of  our investigators arrived which was quite a relief because there were Missionaries whose investigatiors did not show up.  President Carter and Hermanna Carter were there and they shared a few comments with us, which I really enjoyed and I think it really got everyone there excited!  Then we proceeded to the baptisms.  I got the biggest smile on my face as I looked into the eyese of each of my invesigators as they went under and came back up.  I mean really it was the best feeling a Missionary can have!!!  All in all the Stake had 8 baptisms which I think is quite GREAT!!!

ELDER DRAPER'S ALTO de MERLO II WARD BAPTISM 11/24/2012

I was diasspointed though Saturday when I saw that my camera card how somehow got deleted or something and every picture I've ever taken while on my Mission is gone.  I am hoping that they still might be on there but I just can't see them for some reason.  I am going to send that card home and I need you to take it ta a camera store or something and see if the pictures are on it and save them all to a file for me.  I have 2 other cards I took with me to the MTC in he meantime.

Mom, whle I am writting to the Mission President would you text and get Mitch and Clarissa's addresses please!

Wyatt - Good luck at that basketball game tonight, TAKE THE SHOT AND SHOOT, you won't miss I promise!!  GO GET 'EM TIGER!!!

To the questions about the Customs , they don't give us reciepts for our package pick up fee's but don't sweat it, I am getting all of my packages thus far!

"ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE"  ELDER'S WILSON & DRAPER

Well it is definitely looking allot like Christmas, especially in our pension because of all the wonderful packages I have recieved.  The tree, decorations, lights and music is absolutley amazing, we have been listening to the CD's since last night when we  opened them!!  Everyone loved thier stocking and Elder Wilson say he just LOVES YOU MOM!!   We hung the stockings on our makeshift chimney (pulled out amoir, closet thing) and put a blanket  down and towel across the top.  I also need to give a little shout out and thanks to the Nielson Famly for the package they sent is was so nice of you THANKS!  I cannot wait to meet up with Brennan again soon we just have a great time, he is the BEST!!  The only thing missing is that calendar Mom so if you could work on this week and send it I am hoping that it will be here by the first of the year I could really use it and would love the photos from home!

"THE STOCKINGS ARE HUNG BY THE CHIMNEY WITH CARE"

As for Pday today we are going to the heladeria (creamery) to get helado (ice cream) and will make milkshakes while we finsih decorating the Christmas tree.  A member gave us a blender and eys we do have a frezzeer on our fridge, but like Dad said everything here is served at room temp straight from the bottle.

I will be skyping from Romina's on Christmas and we can talk about time etc as it gets a little closer to the holiday.  Ok Mom I gotta run, I love you so much and sent Gilligan (Dad) an email too, have SUPER week!!

Everyone else, I hope you will have a great week as well, until next week, same time same place kids!!!

Love,
Elder Draper

THIS "BUDS" FOR YOU WHOOPS THIS ONES FOR YOU....11/19/2012

Hi Everyone,

Wow what a  past week, it has been GOOD!  We have been working really hard with our investigators who are getting baptized this Saturday! I am super excited for them! My little abuelita Faustina has progressed so well! She has never missed a teaching visit with us, has read everything we´ve left her with, and has come to Church every single Sunday since we´ve met her!  Our other investigator Jessica, has been progressing really well too! She has had some doubts and what not, but every time we resolve them with a prayer or a scripture and she ends up really emotional and just says “I know it’s all true”. She is really excited for her baptism and is so ready for a change in her life!  Little Mateo who is 9 years old, is just great!  It’s been a little difficult teaching him because he lives in a different city, but he comes to Church with his Uncle and Grandma, who are in our ward, and he had his interview yesterday for the baptism and he is so ready!  He kind of looks like a little Tim Burton character, haha but not like a scary one,  he has really big eyes for his very very thin body so I have to admitt I always think that when I see him, but he is just a stud of a kid and very excited to see us and he melts me to the core!

The stake of Merlo last night did an activity for the youth who want to serve missions.  Elder Wilson, Elder Nilsen, Hermana Andreason, Hermana Waite, and I sang at it! It was a really cool activity that got the youth excited for missions!

It’s getting hotter here and it is only spring but I love the heat here! I am getting super a tan! I think the years of tanning has made my skin immune from burning because everyone else that I live with ends up with a sun burn at the end of the day, so thank you Beaches for your contribution to my Mission haha!  We have two fans and believe it or not I get cold at night so sleeping with the sheets you sent THANKS but I am sure it will HEAT up.  The bug bites are not as many now.  Oh and that pair of pants you sent fit perfect so that is the size I could use some more of when you have time, Thanks Mom! I sent some letters for you to deliver to a few folks if you would Mom it is cheaper to send it this way as each one individually is costly for me.  I haven’t gotten any Christmas packages yet but the Zone Leaders and maybe me, if I get transferred, will be going in to the office this week so I will look forward to seeing them.

How is the family and what are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Has Lyn's decided to do Cheer or go for the Volleyball Court next year?  Wyatt’s playing basketball, does he ever slow down?

As for groceries Mom, I don’t buy a whole lot of them as we eat lunch at a members house and then if I have time in the evening I just east some noodles with oil and salt, that’s the secret to the my weight maintence, don’t get me wrong I would probably eat if there were something decent around or to buy!

Here are some  recent photos and as you can see not everyone here is our fan. Someone threw a beer can through our window, perhaps thats what they mean when they say "THIS BUDS FOR YOU" or maybe even someone thought we could use a “DRINK” HAHA.

SERVICE PROJECT THIS WEEK I AM SURE

This is Romania’s daughter. I have spent many hours with her on my lap, reading a Book Of Moromon picture book to her.  She can be fiesty at times a match for Slade in the ring! HAHA

ARE YOUR READY TO RUMBLE

Here is  Elder Nilson and Elder Wilson, Wilson or "RED" being the Zone Leader who lives in our apartment, just a GREAT MISSIONARY, and the other guy, the middle one, well he’s the other MOST AWESOME AND GREAT MISSIONARY here living in our apartment! HAHA.  Mom, ya like the new suit it feels so good not to be holding on to my pants while trekking!

THE GREATEST THREE AMIGOS

Well Transfers are this week and I am hoping that I stay because we are having 3 baptisms this Saturday, so everyone keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!

I hope everyone has a good week ahead of them and I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving... even though I dislike the food and what not! Also Happy Black Friday to all those shoppers,  Shop till ya drop kids!

By the way did you know. Lady GaGa was in Buenos Aires last Friday! We were in the same country for the first time in about 9 months HAHA!!! I wanted to just leave little Merlo for a night and be a little monster again just for one night (Just Kidding) I am proud to be a Missionary serving the gospel but ya got admit her rhythm rocks sometimes!

Well that wraps it up for the week here and as always gotta run Mom.  Love you so very much and miss you tons you’re the best.  Send my love to the rest of the family!

Love ya´ll!!!

Love,
Elder Draper
